Facebook Meta Class Action Lawsuit – How to Get Your Share of $725 Million Dollars

Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation

Case No. 3:18-md-02843-VC

United States District Court for the Northern District of California

Breaking Down the Mega Facebook Data Privacy Settlement

Hey there, fellow internet travelers! Today, we’re chatting about something HUGE that’s been lighting up the web. You know Facebook, right? Or should I say Meta Platforms Inc. – they’re shelling out a whopping $725 million. Why? Well, they got caught in a bit of a pickle. Apparently, they were sharing your data, and your friends’ data, with third parties without asking first. Not a good look, Facebook.

Could You Be Cashing In The Meta Class Action Lawsuit

So, you’re probably wondering, “Am I getting a cut of that cash?” Well, if you were on Facebook anytime between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, there’s a good chance you are! But, not everyone’s invited to the party. If you’re a big shot at Meta, or even work for any of their sister companies, you’re out of luck. The same goes for the legal eagles involved in the case, as well as the judges and court staff. And obviously, if you decide to opt-out of the settlement class, you won’t see a dime.

How Big Could Your Payday Be?

Here’s where things get juicy. If the court gives the green light, Meta’s gonna put that $725 million into a big ol’ pot. From there, they’ll start paying out to everyone who files a valid claim. Now, you’re probably wondering, “How much am I gonna get?” Well, that depends on a couple things: how many people file claims and how long you were using Facebook during that time.

Mark Your Calendars, Folks!

Before you start planning your dream vacation with your payout, there are some dates you gotta know. Want to exclude yourself from the settlement? You’ve got until July 26, 2023. Want to file a claim form? Better get it in by August 25, 2023.

How to File a Claim

Okay, so what’s the deal with this potential award? Well, it varies. I wish I could give you an exact number, but my crystal ball is in the shop. The good news? You don’t need to dig up any receipts or anything to make your claim.

There are two ways to submit this Claim Form to the Settlement Administrator: (a) online on this website; or (b) by U.S. Mail to the following address: Facebook Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation, c/o Settlement Administrator, 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2210, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Your Claim Form must be submitted by August 25, 2023. If you submit your claim by U.S. mail, make sure the completed and signed Claim Form is postmarked by August 25, 2023.

But here’s a serious note: if you’re not eligible, don’t try to fib your way into a claim. It’s a big deal, folks. Not only are you swearing on your honor, but you’re also taking away from others who are eligible. If you’re scratching your head about whether you qualify, check out the FAQ section of the Settlement Administrator’s website.
