Looking for a “work away from home” side hustle or a work from home position? Let's break down the highest demand, highest paid ways to make money right now where you take an action and get a result. (So that would exclude starting a business.)
For this blog post, I want to break down the “make money” categories into four groups. Here's how I have defined the four groups:
- Remote Jobs – Typically, you work for a company away from the office in a remote location. Now, with the pandemic and COVID-19 concerns, businesses are moving to a remote setup.
- Work from Home Solopreneur – Self-employed entrepreneurs who have created a way to make money that doesn't require years of building. No employees necessary.
- Side Hustles – A side hustle is any type of employment undertaken in addition to one's full-time job. It's usually contract labor or freelance in nature.
- Freelancing – Trade skills for cash, oftentimes creating gigs or completing small tasks for money.
High Demand Remote Jobs During the Pandemic
Amazon – Amazon ramped up hiring during the holiday rush. They announced opening 100,000 new roles to support the “stay at home” orders. Pay starts at $19 per hour. The demand for Amazon's products has skyrocketed. Those interested in applying can learn more at www.amazon.com/jobsnow.
We Work Remotely – Search the job board for remote jobs by category. Companies pay to list remote job opportunities. Click here to search the job board and scroll down to find your category. They had hundreds of new job openings each week/month.
FlexJobs – Great resource for finding remote jobs. They have a team of researchers who work on your behalf to find and screen the best remote and flexible jobs – part-time to full-time, entry-level to executive, in 50+ categories.
Indeed – Indeed's remote job listings have skyrocketed since the pandemic. You can find remote jobs here.

High Demand Side Hustles that Pay Instantly
The pandemic has created a billion-dollar market and you can make big money shopping for groceries or delivering food. Here are the side hustles that are trending right now.
Make Money Delivering Food & Groceries
Postmates is an on-demand delivery app that enables over 500,000 people to deliver food, groceries, and other merchandise from thousands of restaurants, grocers, retail shops, and more to their customers.
You can drive, bike, or even walk to deliver groceries to each client or customer. It’s free to sign up and fast to get started. There are no fees or time commitments, so you take home 100% of what you earn every time you complete a delivery.
Get Paid to Deliver from Local Restaurants
DoorDash allows you to make money by delivering food and other items from local merchants to their customers as a Dasher. You can use any car, motorcycle, scooter, bike, or even walk to make deliveries to customers in your city. Read our full review of DoorDash here.
Once you receive a delivery opportunity, you'll see where it is and what you'll earn. Then, you can choose to accept or reject the gig. Once you accept, there are three steps:
- Drive to the Restaurant (or pick-up business)
- Pick Up the Food (or item requested)
- Drop Off at the Customer's Requested Location
Requirements
- 18 or older
- Any car, scooter, or bicycle (in select cities)
- Driver's license number
- Social security number (only in United States)

Instacart – pioneer in the market. They operate in almost every part of the country. Due to the fact that they've partnered with so many grocery stores, they have almost every product in all categories. Organic vegetables, fruits, meats, frozen meats, etc.
- You set your own hours.
- You shop whenever it works for you.
- You'll pick and deliver the items.
- You get paid for every delivery.
You, as a personal shopper, have many benefits like flexible work times, flexibility in pay (per item and per delivery), etc.
If you have your own vehicle, then you can work as a grocery delivery driver “executive” for Instacart. Signup & download the app.
Get Paid to Shop at Target
Shipt – get paid to shop with Shipt while earning up to $22 per hour. They deliver food and household essentials. You have full control of your work hours and need a valid driving license and a vehicle, 1997 or newer, to work with them. You also need to carry your own insulated bag. See our full review of Shipt here.

Side Hustle: Get Paid to Walk Dogs
Wag and Rover are two of the newest and largest players in the booming pet industry, each with more than $300 million in venture capital funding. Both companies are digital marketplaces where pet owners can find dog walkers, pet sitters, and boarders via an app, with most services ranging from about $20 to $50. Wag is often referred to as “Uber for dogs,” since it assigns on-demand walkers and sitters, similar to the way Uber’s algorithm assigns drivers, though pet owners ultimately approve or decline the worker they’re offered. Rover has earned the nickname “DogBnb,” as users can sift through hundreds of available workers who set their own prices. Source: Vox.com

Freelance Positions That Require No Experience
What I love about freelancing is that you don't have to have experience and it works with most ages – 13 and up. Because at the end of the day, it's about providing quality service to people who need help. The more value you provide, the more money you make.
Some of the highest paid freelancing gigs are:
- Website Programming / Installation / Tweaks
- Manage Social Media
- Write Blog Posts
- Create TikToks / Edit TikToks
- Write Emails
- Create Resumes
- Other Ways to Make Money
Here are the ones that I think most people can easily do:
Social Media Manager – solopreneurs and small businesses will pay you to manage their social media. And who has more experience with every platform – GEN Z & Millennials. And now that businesses are working remotely, managing social media is a high demand job.

As you can see the math works out like this:
- Write 2 articles
- x $100 = $200
- x 5 Days = $1,000 per week.
Can you craft and write an article within a few hours? It usually takes me a good hour to outline & write the rough draft of a good blog post. Then, it takes another hour to re-write and edit it to be publishable.
