The Unexpected Call: Connected Investors’ $2M Robocalls Settlement

The Ring of a Million Dollar Settlement

Imagine sitting in your living room watching TV when your phone rings, and when you pick it up, you hear an automated message. This isn't your typical telemarketer. Nope, this is a prerecorded message from Connected Investors, a real estate investment marketplace. It seems they've dialed your number without your consent.

Well, that's exactly what happened to a lot of people, leading to a class action lawsuit against Connected Investors. They had to cough up a cool $2 million to settle claims that they violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by sending these unsolicited robocalls to consumers.

The Who and The What of Connected Investors

Connected Investors is not your everyday company. They're a real estate investment marketplace that offers members access to real estate listings and a library of investment information. Pretty cool, right? Except they ended up in hot water for allegedly violating the TCPA.

Now, Connected Investors hasn't admitted to any wrongdoing, but they did agree to this $2 million class action settlement to resolve the TCPA claims.

Show Me the Money

So, how does this settlement work? Well, under the terms of the robocalls settlement, consumers can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Each payment is estimated to be $29.10. Exact payments will vary depending on the number of participating class members and other factors such as the amount deducted for costs and fees.
